Position Overview

Hycosys is seeking a skilled engineer, ideally early to mid-career, with expertise in aero thermal design of gas turbine combustion systems.

Roles and Responsibilities

  • Lead and execute aero-thermal design of micro gas turbine combustors in line with engine development objectives
  • Develop and validate CFD methodologies (RANS/LES) related to combustion, emission, and ignition modeling for hydrogen-based combustion systems
  • Generate IP in the domain of fuel-air mixing, ignition, cooling design etc to optimize performance, weight, emissions, and life of various combustion sub-systems and components 
  • Conduct thermal (CHT) analysis and collaborate with mechanical teams to predict and enhance component durability
  • Develop optimization tools for faster aero-thermal design iterations with focus on reducing costs and development time


Required Qualifications & Experience

Must Have:

  • Master’s degree or Ph.D in Aerospace, Mechanical, or Chemical Engineering with major in combustion
  • 3+ (for Master’s) and 1+ (for Ph.D) years of relevant industry experience in combustion system design, analysis, testing, and/or validation
  • Proficiency in combustion/aero-thermal CFD modeling
  • Experience with CAD software e.g., SolidWorks (preferred), UG-NX, CATIA, AutoCAD
  • Hands-on experience with commercial CFD tools like Fluent (preferred) / StarCCM+
  • Strong knowledge of thermodynamics, fluid mechanics, combustion, and emission modeling


Good to Have:

  • Experience in combustion testing, including test planning, rig development, integration, instrumentation, and data analysis
  • Programming skills (e.g., Python, MATLAB) for tool development or automation
  • Certifications in Project Planning, Six Sigma, or similar areas
  • Flexibility to navigate the dynamic challenges of a start-up environment
