The Senior Principal Solution Architect, R&D Operations role will provide you the opportunity to lead key activities to progress your career.  These responsibilities include some of the following:

• Maintain familiarity with GSK R&D Tech architectural standards and external technology trends.
• Maintain expertise in agile product delivery processes and technologies, including, but not limited to, cloud platforms (Azure, GCP), data fabric/mesh, DevSecOps, containerization, Databricks/Python, AI/ML, scrum and SAFe.
• Define cloud-based, scalable product architectures informed by external technology trends and aligned with GSK R&D Tech architectural standards as well as visions of Enterprise Architect and Principal Engineer.
• Create achievable product implementation strategies that deliver business value continuously and fit into the existing enterprise architecture from the technical, business and user perspectives.
• Work with Product Directors, Product Owners and Principal/Senior Engineers to construct agile scrum teams for product delivery
• Generate technical solution designs that map out the core parts that will constitute the product solution and how they are going to work together
• Lead development and testing of products through participation in product backlog refinement and Program Increment and Sprint Planning, as well as agile ceremonies such as Daily Standups.
• Contribute to relentless improvement of products and scrum teams by championing experimentation and innovation, and through coaching and mentoring of engineering team members.
• Ensure technical documentation is created and maintained per Global Regulatory Compliance requirements, and that documentation is fit for purpose and useful to the delivery and support teams.

Basic Qualifications:

We are looking for professionals with these required skills to achieve our goals:

• Bachelor’s degree in Software Engineering, Computer Science, or closely related discipline
• Total 15+ years of experience out of which 10+ years architecting and delivering software solutions
• 5+ years leading a solutions delivery team
• 3+ years architecting and delivering cloud-based software solutions using Azure or GCP
• 3+ years DevOps or DevSecOps experience, including Azure DevOps or Jira experience, and thorough understanding of code branching strategies using GitHub
• 3+ years agile/scrum delivery methodology experience
• Basic understanding of data fabric/mesh concepts and principles
• Strong communication skills, both verbal and written

Preferred Qualifications:

If you have the following characteristics, it would be a plus:

• Azure cloud platform services expertise, including Azure Data Factory, Azure Data Lake Services Gen2, Databricks, Synapse, Azure Kubernetes Service, Pyspark
• RDBMS experience – e.g., Oracle, SQL Server
• Experience with Reporting/Visualization tools
• Scaled Agile Framework (SAFe)
• Life science or healthcare industry experience
