Hedge Fund Due Diligence Research Associate Job Description

JPMorgan Private Bank Hedge Fund Due Diligence is responsible for selecting and monitoring hedge fund managers (multiple asset classes including equity, fixed income, macro, etc.) for investment by high net worth clientele. Hedge Fund Due Diligence Research Analysts work closely with operations/structuring, portfolio construction, internal/external investors, and asset class leaders while becoming the central contact with external hedge fund managers.

The Research Analyst reports to a Strategy Head covering equity hedge funds including long/short equity, event-driven, systematic, funds and is capable of:

• Integral team member researching, helping select, and monitoring equity investment funds including data maintenance and analysis (both recurring and bespoke)
• Proactively integrate within relevant investment universes to source new opportunities
• Comprehensively underwrite new investments utilizing analytical skills drawn out of quantitative, qualitative, and interviewing skills to frame and present an investment thesis to senior management
• Understand broad range of financial and investment principles including credit, options, and risk management
• Articulate investment underwriting process to both external managers and investors while conveying knowledge and credibility

Ideal Candidate Preferably Should Have

• 4-6+ years of relevant investment experience
• Experience within hedge fund allocation and equities
• Strong quantitative/analytical abilities as well as written/verbal presentation skills
• Strong teamwork and interpersonal skills
• CFA/CAIA preferred
